NetMedia brings together Internet technology, computing and media professionals from both sides of the Atlantic to:

consider how journalists and media organisations are shaping up in the digital, wired age

examine the promises and pitfalls of emerging communication technologies for the practice of journalism

examine how cybermedia technologies are changing media practices

provide an opportunity for journalists and media practitioners to share experiences and learn new media skills

This year the event is being held on 3 July in Barcelona. The conference will be opened by:

Vladimir de Semir i Zivojnovic
Councillor on Information Society, Barcelona City Council
Vladimir de Semir is a journalist who has specialised in scientific and medical journalism since 1982. He is the director of the Scientific Communication Observatory at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Sr de Semir is the councillor responsible for the Barcelona City Hall project entitled “City of Knowledge” (Ciutat del Coneixement).

He is a member of the European Commission’s Expert Committee on Scientific Culture; the Management Board of the International Network of Public Communication of Science and Technology; and the European Network of Science Communication Teachers.

Please note that the presentation ceremony for the European Online Journalism Awards will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, 3 July. Please email the organisers if you wish to attend the ceremony. There is no charge for entry.
